Sincere Engineer
Last month, Sincere Engineer released their third full-length and second for Hopeless Records, titled Cheap Grills. The record represents a new high-water mark for the band, with everything from the writing to the performances, as well as the production, being taken up a significant notch. Longtime fans can rest assured too, as their patented brand of humor and seamless blend of punk and Midwest emo remain present in abundance. We spoke with singer/guitarist Deanna Belos on the day that Cheap Grills was released. We discussed the album’s writing process and what it was like recording out of state in Massachusetts. We also talked about the inspiration for the record’s title, the band’s experience playing Lollapalooza this summer, their plans for a hometown record release show and more.

Sincere Engineer
This fall, Sincere Engineer will release their second full-length and first for Hopeless Records, called Bless My Psyche. We recently spoke with singer/guitarist Deanna Belos and talked about how the album was written and recorded. Compared to its predecessor, Bless My Psyche features increased contributions from Belos’s bandmates, resulting in more of a collaborative and diverse sound. The group’s lineup is rounded out by Kyle Geib, (guitar/backing vocals) Nick Arvanitis, (bass/backing vocals) and Adam Beck, (drums/backing vocals). Also of note is the continued development of Belos’s songwriting, which is prevalent throughout Bless My Psyche. Additionally, we conversed about the album’s general theme, the band’s move to Hopeless Records, their plans for the rest of the year and more.

This month, Samiam released their eighth full-length, entitled Trips. It’s their third album for Hopeless Records and quite possibly their most complete and varied effort yet. We met up with singer Jason Beebout before the band’s recent show at Reggie’s to discuss some of the details of their new album.
