Post Child – “Getting Closer”
Chicago’s Post Child formed in 2012 and features members of The Brokedowns, High Priests, Wide Angles, Peekaboos and Elephant Gun. They recently finished work on their second full-length, called Wax Wings, which was recorded by Joe Gac. “Getting Closer” is the second single from the forthcoming album and it talks about the various relationships that we as humans have, whether it’s with ourselves or with things like technology or money. The band partnered with Chicago-based production company On The Real Film to create an impressive, effects-laden video for the song. Post Child is slated to play Township next month on Thursday, 9/29 with their pals Cubits from Iowa. Elephant Gun – “I Know Why”
Elephant Gun, which features members of Meat Wave, Truman & His Trophy, Rad Payoff and more, will self-release their latest full-length, Castle Boots, this Sunday, 4/27. It was recorded by Joe Gac and has artwork from Frank Porcaro. To celebrate, the band is playing a record release show at Township on the same day. The event starts at 8:00 PM and is 21+, with openers Chicken Happen, Hot Garbage and Secret Science. Also, fans that bring their own jump drive will be able to download Elephant Gun’s entire new album for free. Check out an exclusive stream from Castle Boots below, called “I Know Why.”

They Liver is set to take place Friday, July 12th and Saturday, July 13th, at both Township and Ultra Lounge. Over 35 bands are scheduled to play, including local and national acts. The event gets underway at 5:00 PM on Friday at Township, with performances by The Slow Death, Vacation Bible School, The Brokedowns, M.O.T.O. and more. At 6:00 PM on Friday, Ultra Lounge hosts Meat Wave, Great Apes, Canadian Rifle and Sweet Cobra, as well as five additional bands. Saturday starts again at Township at 5:00 PM, with The Sky We Scrape, Hanalei, The Copyrights and others scheduled to play. The fourth and final show begins at 6:00 PM on Saturday at Ultra Lounge, and features Rollo Tomasi, The Mons, Explode and Make Up, Damp Hay, The Fur Coats, Lynyrds Innards, Haymarket Riot, Cooler by the Lake and more. All shows cost $12, but weekend passes are available too. The Township shows are 18+, while Ultra Lounge is 21 and over.
